The Wave is a rock formation in the Coyote Buttes area of the Paria Canyon-Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness on the Utah/Arizona border. Water runoff and rhythmic cycling of winds sculpted this dramatic landscape.
The horizontal grain of the wood embodies the swirled bands of color running through the sandstone rock formation and a free-flowing form is sculpted in the solid wood stock, as if eroded by some imaginary wind.
